Paediatric Dental Canberra
At Integrated Dental Canberra, we place an enormous amount of importance on each child’s dental care. We understand that a trip to the dentist is not first on the list of places most children want to visit – we try to make the experience as relaxing as possible while still providing the highest possible level of care.
Our highly experienced paediatric dentists in Canberra are backed by a warm and friendly support staff who understand the need for a special approach to dentistry for kids. We do everything we can to make it a positive experience for all – parents and children!

Canberra’s Leading Dental Practice for Kids
At Integrated Dental, we see children as young as six months, up until young adulthood and beyond. Our children’s dentists have extensive experience working with kids of all ages, and go beyond the standard checkups to provide children with the foundations of good oral health at an early age.
Children often have unique dental issues to adults, like early tooth loss, dental hypersensitivity, tooth decay, thumb sucking, and teeth grinding, among many others. Our Canberra paediatric dental help children progress through their three key phases of dental development, providing valuable advice on teething, dental hygiene and important preventative measures such as dietary habits and the use of fluoride supplements for strengthening teeth.

Frequently Asked Questions
When should children start visiting the dentist?
As a general rule of thumb, children should start visiting the dentist when their first tooth comes through, usually around six months old, or before their first birthday at the latest.
After the first visit to the dentist, your child should come in every 6 to 12 months, just for a check-up. Regular visits to the dentist isn’t just about preventing cavities; it’s also about laying the foundations for healthy teeth and gums over their lifetime.
How is paediatric dentistry different to adult dentistry?
Paediatric dentists undergo specific training to work with children to help protect growing teeth from decay and other problems in the future. Kids often have unique dental issues that adults generally don’t have, like tooth decay, thumb sucking, and “shark teeth” – areas that paediatric dentists have specific skills in.
How much do dental appointments for children cost?
In Australia, children aged 17 and under are eligible for the Child Dental Benefits Scheme (CDBS) – which means children’s dental appointments are heavily subsidised. The CDBS offers $1,000 worth of basic dental services like oral examination, professional dental cleaning, root canal therapy, extraction, fissure sealants, and x-rays, over two consecutive calendar years. The balance is carried over to the second year if the full $1,000 isn’t used within the first year.
At Integrated Dental Canberra, we also offer other payment options like SuperCare, ZipPay and ZipMoney, and AfterPay to suit any financial needs and budgets.
